Frequently asked Questions

Q - What does the term ‘Free List Suspended’ mean?
When you see the term ‘Free List Suspended’ beside a particular film title, this means that free passes cannot be used. In most cases this applies to the first two weeks after a film’s release date. This is a standard condition of the film distributors, UIP, 20th Century Fox, etc..

Q - Why can’t I find out what times the films will be showing at the Cinema for next month?
There are a few reasons.

Firstly, film distributors will sometimes change the release date. This means we are unable to guarantee a release date far in advance.

Secondly, to ensure we are bringing you the best possible selection of films we will analyse the previous week’s performances before deciding on what to show in the following weeks.

Q - A film has been released, why is Eclipse Cinemas not showing it?
There are two reasons for this.

Occasionally, only a limited number of prints are made of a film and this limits the amount of cinemas which can show the movie. However, if a movie is in demand from our customers we will endeavour to show it as soon as possible.

Sometimes it is simply impossible to accommodate all films due to the number of releases and the number of screens available. We will always make an effort to show the best selection of films.

Q - What do all the different Film Ratings mean?
The full cinema certification categories are now as follows:

www.bbfc.org.uk

  • U - Universal Suitable for all ages
  • PG - Parental Guidance.
  • 12A - No-one younger than 12 may see a ‘12A’ film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult aged 18 & over
  • 15 - No-one younger than 15 may see a ‘15’ film in a cinema
  • 18 - No-one younger than 18 may see an ‘18’ film in a cinema.

Q - Is it possible to get gift vouchers?
Yes we sell gift vouchers all year for any amount

Q - Can I pre book tickets?
Yes you can, please call us during opening hours on (028)44 616 777 and have your credit/debit card details ready. Booking is also available through Eclipse Cinemas Online.

Q - Why do the newspapers sometimes have different times than the cinema?
Don’t worry, many people make this mistake. A lot of local newspapers come out between Tuesday and Thursday. However the Cinema week begins on a Friday and ends on Thursday.

As a result we will usually advertise the listings for the forthcoming week. Make sure you carefully check the date on the advert to ensure that it corresponds with the date that you plan to visit.
